New Delhi, May 22: In a major stride toward modernising India’s railway infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate 103 redeveloped railway stations across 86 districts in 18 states and Union Territories on Thursday under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, marking a new chapter in Indian Railways’ modernization.

These upgraded stations, revamped at a cost of Rs 1,100 crore, span across states including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, and promise state-of-the-art amenities, improved accessibility for Divyangjan (persons with disabilities), and architectural designs reflecting local heritage.

Among the 103 revamped stations, key ones in Maharashtra include Chinchpokli, Matunga, Parel, Wadala Road, and Murtizapur Junction, while Balrampur, Bareilly City, Saharanpur, and Izzatnagar stand out in Uttar Pradesh. Tamil Nadu’s Chidambaram, Srirangam, and St Thomas Mount stations have also been overhauled.

PM Modi is also on a day-long visit to Rajasthan’s Bikaner, where he will lay foundation stones for a series of development projects worth over Rs 26,000 crore, boosting connectivity, infrastructure, and energy production across the state.

His first stop will be the sacred Karni Mata Temple in Deshnoke, followed by a visit to the newly redeveloped Deshnoke Railway Station, which features temple-style arches and heritage-themed architecture, symbolizing regional identity.

He will also flag off the new Bikaner–Mumbai Express train, enhancing long-distance rail connectivity between the western state and the financial capital.

As part of the Railways' green mission, the PM will dedicate electrification projects covering more than 940 km, including routes like Suratgarh–Phalodi, Phulera–Degana, Udaipur–Himmatnagar, and Phalodi–Jaisalmer. These are aimed at reducing carbon emissions and making rail operations more energy-efficient.

In a push for renewable energy, the PM will launch multiple solar projects, including:

• A 300 MW solar project by NEEPCO in Bikaner,

• A 100 MW project by SJVN in Nawa,

• Initiatives in Didwana and Kuchaman, and

• Power transmission expansions under Powergrid’s Sirohi and Mewar divisions.

Key inaugurations include the 500 MW Kalasar and 300 MW Shimbhu Ka Bhurj solar power plants — vital to the “Make in India” solar initiative.

To boost road infrastructure and national security, the PM will lay the foundation for:

• Three underpasses on NH-58 in Pushkar,

• Widening of NH-11 and NH-70,

• Seven major NH projects worth Rs 4,850 crore to improve military mobility and trade.

Further, he will kickstart the upgradation of 12 state highways (757 km) under the Rajasthan State Highway Development Programme at an investment of Rs 3,240 crore, with plans to cover another 900 km soon.

To address the healthcare needs of Rajasthan, four new nursing colleges will be inaugurated in Rajsamand, Pratapgarh, Bhilwara, and Dholpur, while two new 132 kV substations in Bikaner and Udaipur will enhance power supply and distribution.

With the inauguration of the Amrit Bharat stations and the launch of these development projects, PM Modi reiterated the government's focus on integrated growth across railways, roads, energy, and healthcare — bringing efficiency, accessibility, and empowerment to both urban and rural regions.

These upgrades not only enhance passenger comfort and regional identity but also reflect India’s rapid stride toward becoming a modern, sustainable, and inclusive economy.
