Mangaluru, May 21: It has been nearly a year since Daijiworld first reported on the heaps of waste, especially plastic bottles, being dumped at the rejuvenated Kavoor lake. Unfortunately, the situation remains unchanged, with the lake still choked by garbage and no visible signs of clean-up or maintenance efforts.
Despite the government spending crores on the lake's rejuvenation, the site lies neglected, raising serious concerns about the sustainability of such projects. What was once envisioned as a clean and scenic water body now paints a dismal picture of administrative apathy.

With the onset of the monsoon in the region, the situation has only worsened. Drain water now flows unchecked into the lake, further adding to the accumulation of waste that has been building up over the years. The presence of stagnant, polluted water poses a threat to both the local ecosystem and public health.
Kavoor lake, once a popular leisure spot for walking and relaxation, has now become an eyesore. The continued neglect by the concerned authorities calls into question their commitment to environmental protection and public welfare.
The state of Kavoor lake is a stark reminder that infrastructure projects require not just investment but also ongoing maintenance and community accountability. Unless immediate steps are taken to clean and preserve the lake, the crores spent on its rejuvenation may prove to be a complete waste, both environmentally and financially. It is time for the authorities to act before the damage becomes irreversible.
