Youth dies, another injured after bike rams into parked lorry in Bantwal

Bantwal, May 30: In a tragic road accident reported on May 29 in the jurisdiction of Vittal police station at Mangalapadavu, a youth died and another was seriously injured after the bike they were riding collided with the rear of a parked lorry transporting soil.

The deceased has been identified as Irfan (19), son of Ismail from Okkettur in Bantwal taluk. The pillion rider, identified as Farees, son of Puttu from the same locality, sustained serious injuries.

According to reports, a lorry carrying bauxite soil from Kanyana side had been parked on the roadside at Mangalapadavu by its driver. As Irfan and Farees were riding along the same stretch, their bike rammed into the rear of the stationary lorry.

Both victims were immediately rushed by locals to a hospital in Mangaluru. However, Irfan succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts. Farees is currently undergoing treatment for his critical injuries.

Locals alleged that the accident occurred due to the lorry driver’s negligence in leaving the vehicle parked on the road to have tea.

Vittal police visited the scene and have collected necessary information.
