Los Angeles, May 31: Selena Gomez celebrated Taylor Swift’s triumphant reclaiming of her music catalog on Friday, sharing her excitement on Instagram after news broke that Swift now owns her masters following a long-running feud with record executive Scooter Braun.

The 32-year-old actress and singer praised her longtime friend, writing in all caps on her Instagram Story: “YES YOU DID THAT TAY. SO PROUD!”

Swift, 35, confirmed she had regained ownership of her master recordings earlier that day. She marked the milestone with an Instagram post captioned “You belong with me,” nodding to her 2008 hit from Fearless. The photos showed her sitting on a studio floor surrounded by her first six albums, dressed in a periwinkle top and jeans, sporting her signature red lip.

The ownership saga began in 2019 when Braun acquired her catalog, sparking a public dispute. Braun later sold the rights to Shamrock Capital, prompting Swift to re-record her albums, adding “Taylor’s Version” to the titles.

Gomez and Swift’s friendship dates back to 2008, when they were introduced by the Jonas Brothers. Reflecting on their bond, Gomez told KISS FM UK in 2017: “We actually dated the Jonas Brothers together! It was hysterical. She was the girl with the big curly hair and cowboy boots, and I was up-and-coming. We just clicked.”

Both stars have since moved on romantically: Swift has been dating NFL star Travis Kelce since October 2023, while Gomez got engaged to Benny Blanco in December 2024.

Fans and fellow artists alike are celebrating Swift’s latest victory, a testament to her determination to reclaim control over her music.
