Panaji, Jun 1: Despite three official warnings, including a final one threatening salary stoppage, several Goa police personnel have blatantly ignored transfer orders, openly challenging departmental authority.
Reliable sources reveal that many of the over 1,000 personnel transferred in the past year have either not reported to their new postings or falsely completed paperwork while continuing at their old stations.
At Panaji Police Station, at least six officers, including Sushant, Nitin, and Guraya transferred to Anjuna, SPCR, and Agassaim remain stationed in Panaji. Constable Attar has reportedly stayed at Agassaim PS for 12 years, ignoring multiple transfers.
Personnel like Karapurkar and Shetye have rotated exclusively within the Goa Reserve Police for nearly 15 years, never stepping out of the GRP structure.
The defiance extends across Traffic Cell, Crime Branch, and Local Intelligence Bureau. In many cases, officers were ‘transferred’ within the same building or received promotions without changing posts.
Traffic staff like Suraj, Prabhakar, Rupesh, and Pratap, although moved to Porvorim, Calangute, and Vasco, continue to serve in their original locations.
More than 50% of the 704 personnel transferred in September 2024 are still at their previous postings. A review on April 4 found that 850 personnel had failed to comply with transfer orders. While some weren’t issued relieving letters, others were relieved but never joined their new units.
Despite a sweeping order on April 4 to complete all transfers within 48 hours and a final warning on May 26, enforcement remains lax.
The administrative failure comes even as CM Pramod Sawant and DGP Alok Kumar ordered strict compliance, warning that no violators would be spared.
