Bengaluru, Jun 4: A historic chapter was written at the Narendra Modi Stadium as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally lifted their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy, breaking an 18-year-long drought that had tested the patience of their passionate fanbase. In a nail-biting final, RCB edged past Punjab Kings by six runs to seal a moment that will be etched in IPL folklore.

Chasing a stiff target of 191, Punjab Kings appeared to be on course before the match turned in RCB’s favour, thanks to the superb bowling efforts of Krunal Pandya and Josh Hazlewood. Pandya’s spin and Hazlewood’s disciplined pace proved decisive in the death overs, triggering wild celebrations across Bengaluru and beyond.

While RCB’s triumph stole the headlines, the 2025 season also belonged to several standout performers who lit up the league with flair and consistency.

Mumbai Indians' skipper and India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav was crowned the Most Valuable Player of the Season. He amassed 717 runs in 16 matches, with five explosive half-centuries and a remarkable average of 65.18. Notably, the stylish right-hander became the first non-opener in IPL history to score over 700 runs in a single season, showcasing his unmatched versatility.

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans' young sensation Sai Sudharsan left a lasting impression with his composed stroke play and maturity beyond his years. The 23-year-old southpaw walked away with the Emerging Player of the Season honour and also claimed the Orange Cap for his aggregate of 759 runs, including a century and six fifties, at a strike rate of 156.17.

Prasidh Krishna emerged as the most successful bowler of the tournament, earning the Purple Cap with 25 wickets in 15 matches. His sharp pace and pinpoint accuracy played a crucial role in his team’s campaign.

Among other accolades, Kamindu Mendis was awarded the Catch of the Season, while Chennai Super Kings were lauded for their sportsmanship, securing the coveted Fair Play Award.

As IPL 2025 concludes, it will be remembered not just for RCB's long-awaited crowning moment, but also for the individual brilliance that reaffirmed the IPL's status as cricket's most enthralling spectacle.
