Mumbai, Jun 6: In a marquee clash between two of Mumbai’s top white-ball stars, Shreyas Iyer-led SoBo Mumbai Falcons edged out Suryakumar Yadav’s Triumph Knights Mumbai North East by four wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday in Season 3 of the T20 Mumbai League.
The Knights, batting first on a seam-friendly wicket, managed 145 for 5 in their 20 overs. After an early blow with Suryakumar Yadav out for 1, opener Siddhant Adhatrao fought valiantly with a gritty 57, sharing a 46-run partnership with Suryansh Shedge (49*). The late surge came from Shedge and Makarand Patil (13*), who added an unbeaten 33 runs to boost the total.
The Falcons stumbled early, losing two quick wickets to Hitesh Kadam, but Shreyas Iyer (13) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (42) steadied the chase with a 54-run stand. After Iyer’s dismissal, Vinayak Bhoir (33) and Akash Parkar (30*) combined for a crucial 56-run partnership, guiding the Falcons home with four balls to spare.
In another nail-biter at DY Patil Stadium, Bandra Blasters eked out a thrilling 1-run win over Aakash Tigers. Paceman Dhanit Raut’s brilliant 4 for 29 helped restrict the Tigers to 152/8 after they were set 154 to win. Veteran opener Jay Bista fought hard with a 55-run knock, but fell short as Blasters held on.
Earlier, Bandra posted 153, thanks to Om Keshkamat’s top score of 40 and Dhrumil Matkar’s handy 33. For Tigers, spinner Shams Mulani impressed with figures of 3/12.
Later on Friday, Eagle Thane Strikers face MSC Maratha Royals at DY Patil Stadium, while ARCS Andheri take on North Mumbai Panthers at Wankhede.
