Mangaluru, June 8: A case has been registered at the Bajpe police station after a photo and voice clip allegedly showing "bikers carrying swords" went viral on social media recently.

Muhammad Suhail, a resident of Surathkal, lodged a complaint in this regard.

In his complaint, Suhail stated that while he was riding a bike with a friend towards Moodbidri, someone maliciously clicked their photo while he was holding an aquarium stone and an e-cigarette.

The image and an accompanying voice clip were then falsely circulated on an Instagram page named "Karavali Tigers," falsely claiming that "bikers carrying swords" were roaming around.

He alleged that this false news was spread on social media in a manner that could incite communal tension, and demanded strict legal action against the "Karavali Tigers" Instagram account.

Responding to the incident, Mangaluru city police issued a clarification stating that the viral WhatsApp photo and voice clip showing bikers with swords were misleading. They confirmed that the rear rider in the image was merely holding an aquarium stone and an e-cigarette on the way to Moodbidri, and that the circulating content was based on false information.
