Dial 112 for all emergencies: Mangaluru city police urge public to use integrated helpline

Mangaluru, Jun 10: The Mangaluru city police have issued a public notice urging citizens to make use of the unified emergency response number 112, introduced under the ‘One Nation, One Emergency Number – 112’ initiative. This integrated system, implemented by the government of Karnataka, aims to provide a quick and coordinated response during emergencies.

Previously, the public had to contact separate helplines for police, fire, or disaster response. With the new Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), dialling 112 alone is sufficient to access all critical services.

Within the jurisdiction of the Mangaluru city police commissionerate, citizens can dial 112 in situations such as accidents, murder, robbery, theft, burglary, riots, or any incidents involving women, children, senior citizens, or suspicious individuals or vehicles. The system prioritizes the call and dispatches the nearest police vehicle to the caller’s location to address the issue swiftly.

Whether it is police assistance, fire service, or disaster support, the public is encouraged to use 112 for all emergency needs. Regardless of the caller’s location within the city, help will be dispatched promptly under the ERSS framework.

To ensure prompt emergency response across the city, 28 patrol vehicles have been deployed under this system. These include 21 Hoysala vehicles and 7 highway patrol vehicles, operating 24x7 to assist the public.

The Mangaluru city police commissioner has urged all citizens to make full use of this upgraded emergency support system for their safety and well-being.
