Tehran, Jun 22: Tensions in West Asia have surged dramatically after Iranian state media issued chilling threats against American citizens and military personnel across the region, following a massive US airstrike on three of Iran’s key nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan on Saturday.
In a fiery broadcast aired by Iranian state television, anchors warned that "every American citizen or military personnel in the Middle East is now a target." The threat came with a background visual of US military bases spread across the region, indicating a possible escalation of direct retaliation.
"You started it, we will end it," a presenter declared, addressing US President Donald Trump directly and accusing Washington of violating Iranian airspace and committing a "crime against Iran."
The US maintains a vast network of military installations in the region, including the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Al Asad and Harir bases in Iraq, Al Tanf Garrison in Syria, the Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, and air bases in the UAE and Kuwait.
As per Iran International, another state media presenter went a step further, claiming that "the battle has just begun, Mr. Trump. Now you talk of peace? We will make you understand the consequences of recklessness."
These threats come in the wake of the US military’s devastating precision strikes which, according to President Trump, completely “obliterated Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities.” In a brief but stern televised address, Trump said, “Iran’s future holds either peace or tragedy,” warning of further action if Tehran does not stand down.
Speaking to Fox News, Trump revealed that six bunker-buster bombs were deployed at the Fordow site, while 30 Tomahawk missiles targeted Natanz and Isfahan facilities. Despite the aggression, the US reportedly reached out diplomatically to Iran, stating that the strikes were limited and Washington is not seeking regime change.
The Iranian retaliation threat marks a dangerous turning point, potentially plunging the region into deeper instability. With both sides digging in, the coming days could determine whether diplomacy prevails—or a larger conflict erupts.
