Mangaluru: Mount Carmel primary students celebrate International Yoga Day

Mangaluru, Jun 22: The primary students of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru celebrated International Yoga Day with an engaging programme on June 21, hosted by grade IV A and B.

The celebration commenced with prayer followed by a warm welcome by Nirav and Shivanshi. The chief guest for the day, Suresh M N, retired professional of Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited and a committed yoga practitioner, was accorded a heartfelt welcome of words thereafter a welcome dance.

The significance of International Yoga Day was well articulated by students Manasvini, Simona, and Sriansh followed by a skit depicting the benefits of yoga with demonstration of various asanas. The highlight of the programme was a Mathematical Yoga Dance, a blend of yoga postures and maths.

The chief guest Suresh M N shared an inspiring message on the benefits of embracing yoga in one’s daily life. He also demonstrated a few asanas and remembered the legacy of Maharshi Patanjali. He then felicitated the state level toppers of wiz spell bee competition and winners of school level drawing and elocution competitions. The administrator Sr Carissima urged the students to practice a few asanas daily to bring peace within oneself and the society at large.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Skeeth, Aadya, and Arjith, appreciating the efforts of everyone involved in making the celebration meaningful. The event was anchored gracefully by Keenan, Christine, Eshan, Kyraand Pranav.
