Mangaluru, Jun 26: To commemorate the International Day against Drug Abuse, Class 8A at The Yenepoya School convened a special assembly, fostering a solemn and thought-provoking atmosphere. The proceedings commenced with a reverent prayer, setting the tone for a meaningful discourse. Associate director Anthony Joseph extended a warm welcome to the gathering, introducing the esteemed guests.

A student presented an informative and engaging PowerPoint presentation, shedding light on the detrimental effects of substance abuse and highlighting the importance of a drug-free lifestyle.

Dr Shakeel M, assistant registrar at Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), graced the occasion as the chief guest, delivering a compelling address on the pernicious effects of substance abuse. He eloquently advocated for a paradigm shift from punitive measures to preventive strategies, inspiring the audience to adopt a proactive stance against drug abuse.

The guest of honor, assistant sub-inspector Jagdeesh of the Kankanady police station reinforced Dr Shakeel's message, elucidating the legal repercussions of drug abuse and the stringent punishments associated with it. Head constable Harinakshi attended the program.

The assembly culminated with a vote of thanks, marking the conclusion of a profoundly enlightening and meaningful program.
