Sancoale, Jun 26: A wave of panic swept through Mount Litera Zee School on Wednesday morning after an anonymous email claimed a bomb had been planted on campus. The threat, later confirmed to be a hoax, triggered mass hysteria among parents and led to a swift multi-agency emergency response.

The alarming message arrived at around 9:15 am, prompting Principal Sandhya Venkatesh to immediately notify law enforcement. Within minutes, Mormugao police, led by DySP Gurudas Kadam, arrived on the scene with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), supported by other emergency services.

“As soon as we received the alert, our teams were mobilised. BDDS personnel conducted a thorough search of the entire campus. While initial indications pointed to a hoax, we took no chances and treated the threat with utmost seriousness,” said DySP Kadam.

As the news spread, panicked parents gathered outside the school. Students were quickly evacuated to the open ground, and their belongings were individually inspected. Each section of the school was combed for suspicious items, but no explosives were found.

Principal Venkatesh praised the swift action of authorities and urged the public to remain calm. “Parents have been informed that dispersal will be at 11 am. Thankfully, it was a hoax, but safety is always our top priority,” she said.

The incident has reignited concerns about the misuse of digital platforms to cause fear. Authorities have launched a probe to identify the source of the email and assured that strict action will be taken against the perpetrator.
