'Nation first': Aditya Narayan urges Diljit to 'make amends' over casting Pakistani actress

Mumbai, Jun 29: Amid the controversy over Sardaar Ji 3, singer and television host Aditya Narayan has called on actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh to "make amends" for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the film. Speaking to News18, Aditya stressed that when it comes to issues of national sentiment, “it’s always nation first.”

The film, which released overseas on June 27, skipped its India release due to the strained relations between India and Pakistan. The casting of Hania Aamir has drawn sharp reactions online, with many criticising the timing given the current political tensions.

“I’m a staunch patriot. The country in question… it’s sort of a habit (of supporting terrorism). As Indians, we spread love and inclusivity. But for how long can we tolerate this? The atrocities are still fresh in the minds of every Indian,” said Aditya.

While acknowledging that casting decisions may have been made before the current diplomatic flare-up, Aditya said the situation demands sensitivity. “It’s murky waters, but definitely, it’s always India first. This is my motherland,” he added.

“If I were in Diljit’s place, I would have put India first. Make amends — that’s all,” he said, urging the Sardaar Ji 3 team to consider the broader national sentiment. “We have always been collaborative, and love is our message — but there is a limit to tolerance.”

Diljit Dosanjh has yet to respond publicly to the controversy.
