Los Angeles, Jul 3: Deepika Padukone is set to make history as the first Indian actor to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The announcement was made by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday night, naming Padukone as part of the prestigious Walk of Fame Class of 2026.
The Bollywood superstar joins an illustrious list of honourees that includes Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Marion Cotillard, Stanley Tucci, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, and Demi Moore. Also recognised are acclaimed directors Chris Columbus and the late Tony Scott. From the television and entertainment world, Greg Daniels, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Gordon Ramsay, Bradley Whitford, and Noah Wyle are also among the selectees.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame, one of the most iconic landmarks in the entertainment world, features over 2,700 brass stars along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. Each star pays tribute to individuals who have left an indelible mark on film, television, music, radio, and live performance.
Padukone’s recognition places her alongside a select few of Indian origin honoured on the Walk of Fame. Indian conductor Zubin Mehta received a star in 2011, while Indian-origin actor Sabu Dastagir was also awarded one for his work in Hollywood during the 1940s.
Since her breakout debut in Om Shanti Om (2007), Deepika Padukone has risen to the top ranks of Indian cinema, known for her powerful performances in films like Piku, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, and Chhapaak. She made her Hollywood debut in 2017 opposite Vin Diesel in XXX: Return of Xander Cage and has since built a global presence. In 2018, TIME magazine included her in its list of the 100 most influential people, and in 2022, she served as a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival.
The actor continues to make bold strides on the international stage and is currently working on several major projects, including a pan-India film directed by Atlee, co-starring Allu Arjun.
Padukone’s upcoming star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame cements her status as a global icon and marks a proud moment for Indian cinema on the world stage.
