London, Jul 8: India's campaign at Wimbledon 2025 came to an end after Yuki Bhambri and his American partner Robert Galloway bowed out of the men's doubles pre-quarterfinals on Sunday. The 16th-seeded duo went down fighting to fourth seeds Marcel Granollers of Spain and Horacio Zeballos of Argentina in a tightly-contested match at the All England Club.

Despite a spirited effort, Bhambri and Galloway lost 6-4, 3-6, 7(10)-6(4) in two hours and nine minutes. After dropping the first set due to an early break, the Indo-American pair bounced back strongly in the second, breaking their opponents twice to level the match.

The deciding set saw dramatic swings in momentum. Granollers and Zeballos led 5-2 before Bhambri and Galloway rallied to 5-5. With neither side yielding, the match went into a super tiebreak, where the fourth seeds raced to a 7-0 lead. Although Bhambri and Galloway attempted a late recovery, a double fault on match point sealed their exit at 10-4.

Earlier in the tournament, the duo had defeated Portugal’s Nuno Borges and the USA’s Marcos Giron to reach the round of 16.

India’s Rohan Bopanna and his Belgian partner Sander Gille made a shock first-round exit, while N Sriram Balaji and Rithvik Bollipalli, both playing with different partners, exited in the second round. Bhambri also suffered a defeat in the mixed doubles category, partnering China’s Jiang Xinyu.
