Mangaluru, Aug 1: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Mangaluru City CCB police have seized 123 kg of ganja and arrested three individuals involved in its illegal transport. Two vehicles used for the operation were also confiscated.
Acting on a tip-off, the CCB team intercepted two cars transporting ganja at Mathadakere near Kantavara Cross in Beluvai village, Moodbidri taluk, on July 31. The contraband was being transported from Andhra Pradesh.




The arrested have been identified as Masood M K (45), son of late Khalid Haji, a resident of Mogaru House, Adoor, Urduru post, Kasargod taluk and district, Kerala; Mohammad Ashiq (24), son of late M P Abdulla, a resident of Chandamoola House, Parappa Delampady, Parappa post, Kasargod; and Subair (30), son of Ibrahim, a resident of Parappa Delampady, Parappa post, Kasargod.
The police have seized two cars bearing registration numbers KA-21-P-9084 and KL-14-AF-7010, five mobile phones, and the ganja, all estimated to be worth around Rs 46.2 lac. A case has been registered at the Moodbidri police station.
Mangaluru City Police continue to intensify their crackdown on narcotic smuggling networks. Officers and personnel from the CCB unit were actively involved in this operation.
Mangaluru city police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has lauded the CCB team over the successful operation and warned of strict action against persons indulging in such unlawful activities.
