BJP demands Dharmasthala SIT probe report released in Assembly; Home min says not possible

Bengaluru, Aug 12: The issue of the ongoing SIT investigation into allegations of mass burials in Dharmasthala echoed in the Assembly on Monday, with the BJP demanding the release of the investigation report. The government, however, refused to provide even an interim report.

Raising the matter during Zero Hour, BJP MLA Sunil Kumar said that an anonymous person had alleged burying hundreds of bodies in Dharmasthala, leading the government to order an SIT probe.

“No one knows what has happened in the investigation so far. Meanwhile, false propaganda is being spread about Dharmasthala, hurting religious sentiments. The government must act against those engaged in such activities,” he urged.

Supporting the demand, BJP members including Suresh Kumar and Araga Jnanendra said the SIT should make public the evidence and information gathered so far.

“Baseless speculations are damaging religious sentiments. The identity and background of the anonymous complainant must be revealed. If, after the probe, the person is dismissed as mentally unstable and let off, who will take responsibility?” they questioned.
