Three absconding accused arrested in separate cases in Puttur subdivision

Puttur, Aug 13:
Police in Puttur subdivision have arrested three accused who had been absconding for years and repeatedly failed to appear before court in separate cases.

In the first case, accused Shivakumar alias Shivu, a resident of Savanur, Haveri, had nine warrants issued against him in connection with a theft case (Puttur Town Police Station Crime No. 69/2023, Section 379 IPC). Despite repeated summons, he failed to attend court hearings.

Acting on credible information, a special police team led by Uppinangady PSI Kaushik, under the guidance of Puttur DySP Arun Nagegowda and Town Police Inspector Kiran Johnson D’Souza, arrested the accused at Abbigere, Bengaluru, on August 12, 2025.

In the second case, Syed Kaleem alias Kallu Mamu, a resident of Jagajeevanram Nagar, Bengaluru, had been evading court appearances for three years in connection with a robbery case (Uppinangady Police Station Crime No. 14/2022, Section 394 IPC). He also faces four other criminal cases registered at various police stations in Bengaluru. The arrest was carried out by a team from Uppinangady police under the guidance of DySP Arun Nagegowda, Circle Inspector Ravi B S, and PSI Kaushik.

In the third case, Yusuf (32), a resident of Ramakunja in Kadaba, had been absconding for three years in connection with a case registered under Sections 341, 323, 324, 504, and 506 read with 34 IPC (Kadaba Police Station Crime No. 91/2019). Kadaba police arrested him on August 12, 2025, and produced him before court, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.

Police teams involved in the operations have been commended for tracing and apprehending the long-absconding accused.
