Heavy rain likely to lash DK, Udupi from Aug 14 to 19; yellow alert issued

Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 14: After a brief lull, monsoon showers are expected to intensify again along the coastal belt, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts from August 14 to 19. The period is likely to witness heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds.

On Wednesday, moderate showers were recorded in parts of Dakshina Kannada, including Mangaluru, where the maximum temperature stood at 26.9°C and the minimum at 22.9°C.

Meanwhile, Udupi district also experienced moderate rainfall on Wednesday, with cloudy skies prevailing since morning. Rainfall was reported in several areas, including Padubidri, Kaup, Shirva, Katapadi, Udupi, Malpe, Brahmavar, Kota, Manipal, Hebri, Karkala, Kundapur, and Byndoor.
