Udupi, Aug 15: CSI Lombard Memorial Hospital, Udupi organised a blood donation camp at Multi Purpose Hall near School of Nursing Compound Mission Hospital, Udupi, on August 15.
The camp was organised in association with Indian Red Cross Blood Bank Kundapura, Indian Red Cross Udupi Unit, Youth Red Cross, Udupi, Badagabettu Credit Co-Operative Society Udupi, Lions Club Chethana Udupi, Kala Kiran Club Bailoor Udupi, Udupi Runners Club (R) Udupi, Blood Help Care, Karnataka (R), Upendra Pai Memorial College, Kunjibettu Udupi.



















The camp was traditionally inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries. Rachel blessed the camp with the prayer.
Chief guest of the day Indrali Jayakar Shetty, president of Badagabettu Credit Society, said the hospital is organising a lot of camps to the benefit of the general public and appreciates the recent progress of the hospital.
Jayakar Shetty, chairman of Red Cross Blood Bank, Kundapura, addressing the gathering said, “We are deeply grateful to all the donors who stepped forward to give the gift of life. Blood donation is a small act of kindness that can have a massive impact on someone's life.”
The camp witnessed an overwhelming response from volunteers, with over 75 donors coming forward to contribute to this noble cause. Each unit of blood collected will be used to help accident victims, patients undergoing surgery, individuals battling life-threatening diseases, and more.
General health check-up was also conducted in the camp.
President of Lions Club Chethana Udupi Santhosh Kumar, president of Kala Kiran Club Bailore Udupi Arun Kumar Shetty, president Of Udupi Runners Club (R) Dr Thilak Chandrapal, president Of Blood Help Care, Karnataka (R) Sheikh Fayaz, Hospital AO Deena Prabhavathi and Chaplin Rachel D’Silva, were present on the occasion.
Trained medical staff ensured that the entire process, from registration to post-donation care, was conducted with the highest standards of hygiene and safety. Donors also received certificates of appreciation and refreshments as a token of gratitude.
The success of this camp highlights the power of community and the importance of regular blood donation in maintaining an adequate and safe blood supply.
