On March 29, 2025, unidentified miscreants had cut the siren cable of the front door of Muthoot Finance, located in HM Complex, Deralakatte, and attempted to break in. A case in this regard was registered at Konaje police station (Crime No. 42/2025) under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Earlier, two accused — Murali from Idukki in Kerala and Arshad from Kanhangad — had already been arrested. However, the prime accused, Abdul Latheef alias Latheef, a native of Vellarikkundu taluk, Kasargod district, had gone absconding.
