Mangaluru, Aug 21: Road accidents and crime cases in Mangaluru city have seen a significant decline over the past year, which is a positive development, said Mangaluru Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravishankar.

He was speaking after inaugurating a free private bus pass distribution programme for journalists, organised by the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Association in collaboration with the Dakshina Kannada Bus Owners’ Association, at the Press Club here on Thursday, August 21.

“Journalists face several challenges in their professional lives. Yet, I have observed that they continue to uphold truth and justice while acting as the voice of society and fulfilling their role as the fourth pillar of democracy. It is commendable that the district’s journalists also exercise caution in reporting matters that could have a negative impact on society,” he added.
