Snehalaya Charitable Trust marks 16 years of service on St Mother Teresa’s birth anniversary

Kasargod, Aug 27: Snehalaya Charitable Trust proudly celebrated 16 years of dedicated service to the least, the last, and the lost, on August 26, coinciding with the birth anniversary of St Mother Teresa of Kolkata.

The day began with a Thanksgiving Holy Mass, presided over by Dr Fr Praveen Martis SJ, vice chancellor of St Aloysius Deemed to be University, Mangaluru, and concelebrated by Fr Peter Reginald D’Souza, parish priest of St Lawrence Church, Bola; Fr Ligory Crasta, OCD, administrator of Ryshivana, Christian Institute of Spirituality, Retreat Centre, Ranipura; Fr Cyril D’Souza, chaplain of Snehalaya; and Fr Dominic Sequeira SDB, parish priest of Holy Cross Church, Pavoor. The Mass was offered in gratitude to all donors who have supported Snehalaya throughout its 16 years of service.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, two books authored by Geo D’Silva Agrar were released. The first, ‘The Chosen One’, chronicles the life and mission of Joseph Crasta in establishing Snehalaya, highlighting the initial struggles and challenges. The second, a Konkani book titled ‘Pati Yaa Mukar Meta Thuji’, focuses on positive thinking and serves as an inspiration, particularly for the youth. Dr Fr Praveen Martis SJ unveiled and released the books.

During the programme, Purushotham, maintenance supervisor, was honoured with the Best Staff of the Year 2024–2025 award, recognizing his dedication and contributions.

Founder Joseph Crasta expressed heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support received from benefactors and well-wishers over the years, while Olivia Crasta extended thanks to the guests and gathering. A large number of donors, friends, and supporters witnessed the celebration, which concluded with a fellowship meal.
