New Delhi, Aug 27: T-Series, one of India’s biggest music labels, has landed in controversy after facing plagiarism allegations over Raanjhan, the hit romantic track from Netflix’s Do Patti starring Kriti Sanon and Shaheer Sheikh.
The track, composed by Sachet-Parampara and sung by Parampara Tandon, has been accused of lifting beats from an international producer without credit. Music producer KMKZ took to Instagram nearly a year after the film’s release, claiming that the beats were originally his creation.
In a detailed video, he said, “I produced the number one song in India, and I didn’t even know about it. I posted this beat two years ago. Recently, someone messaged me saying they recognised my piano in a song but didn’t see me credited. Then I found Raanjhan with T-Series in the credits instead of me.”
According to him, the track has already crossed 290 million streams on Spotify. He alleged that despite reaching out to T-Series, its team, and the artists, he received no response. “They ripped the beat off YouTube, didn’t contact me, didn’t pay me, didn’t credit me – and now they have a number one song on Indian Billboard,” he said.
Calling on fans and industry insiders for support, he added, “There are so many stories of producers getting ripped off nowadays, but 300 million streams and number one on Billboard is crazy. I DEMAND A PLAQUE.”
Raanjhan was a chartbuster in India, topping music charts and becoming one of the most-streamed songs of 2024. Directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi, Do Patti premiered on Netflix on October 25, 2024, featuring Kajol, Kriti Sanon, and Shaheer Sheikh in pivotal roles.
NDTV has reached out to T-Series for a response.
