Rain holiday for schools, colleges in parts of Dakshina Kannada, ITIs in Udupi on Aug 28

Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 28: Due to the forecast of heavy rainfall and an orange alert, a holiday has been declared for all anganwadi centers, primary and high schools, government-aided, private educational institutions and PU colleges in Mangaluru, Puttur, Mulki, Moodbidri, Ullal, and Bantwal taluks in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district, on Thursday August 28.

Parents are asked to ensure that children do not go to low lying areas, lakes, sea shore and river sides. The fishermen too have been warned against venturing into water. Taluk level officers have been asked to remain at the headquarters compulsorily. Nodal officers appointed for various positions by the district administration have been asked to be alert and respond to public complaints. The tahsildar have been directed to be in constant contact.

Similarly, Udupi district administration has announced a holiday on Thursday for all Anganwadi centers, primary and high schools, PU colleges, and ITI institutions in the district.
