Mangaluru: Illegal liquor unit busted in Deralakatte, two arrested

Mangaluru, Sep 1: The Konaje police raided a house engaged in illegal liquor production and arrested two accused on Sunday.

The arrested have been identified as Pranav V Shenoy (24), a resident of Kasargod, and Anush R (24), a resident of Thalipadpu. Police said the duo, along with Thomas and Manikutttan, were involved in the illicit liquor business at a house located on the road leading to Sri Durga Kali Temple at Kambalapadavu in Pajiru village, under Konaje police station limits.

During the raid, Thomas and Manikutttan managed to escape, police added.

Police took the arrested accused to the house for mahazar proceedings. Upon inspection, officers seized illegal items worth Rs 1,15,110, including three liquor-making machines, a mixer machine, liquor bottles, and eight bottles of Mansion House brandy—licensed for sale only in Goa—along with other materials used in liquor production.

A case has been registered against the accused at Konaje police station.
