Mangaluru: Konkani Manyatha Divas observed at Naravi Parish

Mangaluru, Sep 1: Konkani Manyatha Divas was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm at Naravi Parish on August 31. The celebration brought together parishioners to honour the richness of the Konkani language, culture, and traditions.

The program was presided over by the parish priest, Fr Jerome D'Souza. The chief guest was Fr Rupesh Madtha, editor of Konkani Raknno weekly. Other dignitaries present were Fr Rupesh Raveen Tauro, lecturer of St Antony PU College Naravi, Sr Precilla Andrade, superior of Jerosa Convent, Sanjay Miranda, vice president of the Pastoral Council, Eugine Rodrigues, secretary of the pastoral council, and Sunil D'Souza, convener of the 21 Commissions.

The program began with a welcome address by Sanjay Miranda. In his speech, the chief guest, Fr Rupesh Madtha, highlighted the richness of the Konkani language, culture, and traditions. In his presidential address, Fr Jerome D'Souza stressed the importance of teaching and speaking Konkani at home, so that the younger generation may carry it forward with pride.

The nine wards of the parish presented a variety of cultural programs, including songs, skits, and dances. These performances beautifully displayed the depth and richness of Konkani heritage. The parish priest expressed his gratitude to all ward members for their efforts in presenting such meaningful and entertaining programs.

Sunil D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contribution of all the guests, participants, and parishioners. The program was ably compered by Jovel Fernandes.

The celebration of Konkani Manyatha Divas at Naravi Parish was a true reminder of the community’s unity and cultural pride.
