Byndoor, Sep 8: While most people wish to spend their retirement in peace, two retired government teachers from Byndoor rural area have set an inspiring example by voluntarily teaching children in their hometown schools free of cost.

At the Baada government higher primary school in Byndoor, retired teachers T Nagesh and Eshwar Sherugar taught students of classes 3 and 5 daily from 9 am to 12 noon. Their dedicated service drew appreciation from the school development committee, villagers, and fellow teachers.

Nagesh, a native of Byndoor, served nine years in Kadur, Chikkamagaluru district, and 22 years in Sringeri. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in increasing student enrollment at a village school. From just three students, the numbers grew to 40, earning him recognition from education enthusiasts. He was also honoured with the popular teacher award.

Eshwar Sherugar served in schools across the rural areas under the jurisdiction of the Byndoor education officer, including the remote village of Atthadi. Both teachers returned to their hometown after retirement and have made their retired life meaningful by offering free lessons to the children of Bada village.
