Mangaluru, Sep 12: In recognition of exemplary service and efficiency in cracking criminal cases and performing duties across various fields, Mangaluru city police honoured officers and staff at a ceremony held at the district parade ground on Friday, September 12.
Police Commissioner presented appreciation certificates to 32 police officers and awarded cash prizes along with certificates to 121 staff members. In addition, 19 personnel of the Special Task Force were recognized for their contribution to maintaining law and order and peace in the city. In total, 32 officers and 140 staff members were felicitated.






During the past three months, police have made significant progress in solving long-pending cases. In Mulki station limits, two accused involved in a communal riot case that had remained unresolved for 27 years were traced and arrested. Additionally, 52 absconding accused with non-bailable warrants (NBWs) pending for several years were apprehended.
In property theft cases, 39 incidents were solved, leading to the recovery of stolen property worth around Rs 1.05 crore.
In the fight against narcotics, 37 cases were registered against drug peddlers, with 73 accused arrested. Strict action was initiated, and 46 peddlers remain in judicial custody. Police also filed 89 cases against drug users, detaining 127 individuals, from whom further leads on peddlers were obtained.
Monitoring of social media has been intensified, with action taken against those spreading hate speech, misinformation, or provocative content. So far, cases have been registered against 22 individuals. Investigating officers and their teams were also commended for conducting high-quality investigations that helped courts deliver maximum punishment to offenders.

• For securing convictions in court: 3 officers and 8 staff
• For detection of major cases: 9 officers and 31 staff
• For detection of major NDPS cases: 3 officers and 13 staff
• For tracing those posting provocative content on social media: 11 staff
• For maintaining law and order, improving traffic management, and other duties: 5 officers and 16 staff
Additionally, 19 personnel from the Special Task Force were honoured for their role in maintaining law and order and ensuring peace in the city.
