Sorabh Babu Maheshwari: From mechanical engineer to UPSC topper

Daijiworld Media Network - Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh, Sep 13: Sorabh Babu Maheshwari secured the first position in the 1999–2000 Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

A graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Uttar Pradesh University, Maheshwari credits his success to planned studies, hard work, inner motivation, God’s grace, and the constant support of his family.

Reflecting on his journey, he describes the path to the Indian Administrative Services as ‘full of ups and downs and highly uneven’, emphasizing the importance of self-assessment and determination before choosing Civil Services as a career.

He was inspired by the unique opportunities that the service offers—diverse roles, participation in policy implementation, greater responsibilities, social esteem, and above all, the chance to contribute to the welfare of the common people.
