Mangaluru, Sep 16: Vehicular movement on the Honnekatte–Kana railway overbridge will be completely banned for 30 days from September 17 to October 16.

The move is owing to concreting work being undertaken on the bridge.

During this period, the following traffic diversions will be in place:

  1. Vehicles travelling from Mangaluru towards MRPL (ONGC) via Kulai–Honnekatte should take the Hosabettu–Surathkal junction route to reach MRPL.

  2. Vehicles coming from MRPL towards Mangaluru should move via MRPL–Surathkal junction and take the NH-66 service road through Govindas to reach Mangaluru.

  3. Parking of vehicles is prohibited on the Surathkal–Govindas service road.

  4. To facilitate one-way traffic, vehicular movement on the Surathkal–Govindas service road from Govindas towards Surathkal has been prohibited.

  5. During peak traffic hours (8 am to 9 am and 4 pm to 6 pm), vehicles belonging to MRPL, HPCL, BASF, and other companies are prohibited from using the Surathkal–Govindas service road.

The Mangaluru City Corporation has urged motorists and the public to cooperate with the diversions. The work is expected to be completed within the stipulated period to ensure smooth traffic flow, the commissioner stated in a release.
