Saudi Arabia declares Sept 23 public holiday for 95th National Day

Riyadh, Sep 19: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has declared Tuesday, September 23, 2025, a public holiday to mark its 95th National Day, commemorating the unification of the Kingdom in 1932 under King Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) confirmed that the holiday will be observed by both the public and private sectors. It is the last official holiday on Saudi Arabia’s annual calendar.

Celebrations across the Kingdom will include traditional performances, cultural exhibitions, drone and air shows, fireworks displays, and nationwide illuminations in green — the colour of the Saudi flag. Businesses, restaurants, and retail outlets are also expected to join in with themed offers and promotions.

First declared a holiday in 2005 by King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Saudi National Day has since become one of the country’s most important non-religious observances, alongside Founding Day and Flag Day.

The annual celebration not only reflects national pride but also serves as a reminder of the Kingdom’s heritage while highlighting its Vision 2030 transformation journey.
