Dasara holidays for school students announced from Sep 20

Bengaluru, Sep 19: The state government has announced Dasara holidays for all schools across Karnataka starting from September 20. An official order has been issued by the education department in this regard.

The festival holidays for the current academic year will begin tomorrow, September 20. To enable schoolchildren to witness the world-famous Mysuru Dasara festivities, the education department has declared an 18-day holiday for government schools.

According to the order issued by the department, schools will remain closed from September 20 to October 7, accounting for a total of 18 days of holidays. However, students are required to compulsorily attend the programmes scheduled on October 2, marking Gandhi Jayanthi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanthi.

As per the academic calendar released by the state education department, these 18 days have been set aside for the festival holidays. This year, the world-famous Mysuru Dasara will be inaugurated at the Chamundeshwari temple, the presiding deity of the state, on September 22. The Dasara festivities will be held for 11 days, concluding on October 2.
