Mangalore, Feb 10: All the 11 alleged thieves, who were caught by the villagers of Pavoor Harekala late evening on Wednesday, were produced in a court here on Thursday February 9. All of them succeeded in getting bail.

The accused thieves have been identified as Arjun (19) and Deepak (19), both residing at Tokkottu Valapete, Rahul (18), Suji (18), and Kiran (18), residing near Over Bridge, Sujesh Kumar (18) and Renny (48), from Tokkottu Vasukinagar, Denil (19), Kapikad Pavan (18), and Rakshit (19), residents of Innoli Pavoor Majikatte, and Ratan (21) from Kerebail.

The residents of New Padpu, Eliyar, and Faridnagar, who had been harassed by a series of thefts over the last some months, had caught the above youth when they were allegedly hatching a plan to commit theft, after chasing them. The arrested men reportedly confessed that they were trying to steal cocks for cockfight and iron scrap. Initially, when the villagers saw them when the gang members were trying to remove gates of a house and raised an alarm, they tried to convince the villagers that they had lost their way, and that they were here to play Kabaddi. Some local women said they had seen some members of the team loitering in the area in the guise of salesmen.
