Jaipur, Sep 26: Rajasthan Police’s CID (Intelligence) unit on Thursday arrested Hanif Khan, a 47-year-old resident of Basanpeer Jooni, Jaisalmer, on charges of espionage for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI. Khan is accused of sending confidential military information in exchange for monetary gain.

Dr Vishnukant, IG CID, stated that the Intelligence team has been actively monitoring espionage activities in the state. During surveillance, Khan’s suspicious activities were identified, including regular contact with Pakistani handlers via social media.

Investigations revealed that Khan had easy access to border areas and allegedly shared details about critical military installations and Army movements, including during Operation Sindoor. Technical analysis of his mobile confirmed the exchange of sensitive information with the ISI for money.

A case has been registered under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and Khan remains in custody pending further investigation.

This incident marks the fourth espionage-related arrest in Jaisalmer this year, highlighting ongoing vigilance by security agencies along India’s western border.
