Hyderabad, Oct 1: Mammootty, the celebrated Malayalam cinema icon, has made a triumphant return to the film industry after an eight-month health-related hiatus. On October 1, 2025, the 74-year-old actor resumed shooting for the highly anticipated political thriller Patriot in Hyderabad. This marks his first appearance on set since his medical leave earlier this year.

Producer Anto Joseph confirmed Mammootty's return, expressing gratitude for the support and prayers from fans that contributed to the actor's recovery. He announced, "Our dear Mammookka is returning... From October 1st, he will resume acting in the film directed by Mahesh Narayanan."

Director Mahesh Narayanan revealed that approximately 60% of Patriot had been completed before production was delayed due to Mammootty's health concerns. The team is now working diligently to resume filming, with plans to shoot in Hyderabad for the next two weeks before moving to London and possibly Kochi.

Fans and industry colleagues have warmly welcomed Mammootty's return, celebrating his recovery and eagerly anticipating his performance in Patriot. The film also stars Mohanlal and Fahadh Faasil, promising a stellar ensemble cast.
