Beltangady, Oct 5: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Dharmasthala skull case interrogated two ambulance drivers from Beltangady till 9 pm on October 4 in connection with the transportation of bodies from the site. The officers reportedly questioned them in detail about the movement of the bodies from Dharmasthala and have directed them to appear again for further questioning on October 6.
The two drivers, identified as Jaleel and Hameed, who have been working as ambulance drivers for nearly 20 years, were served notices to appear before the SIT. During questioning, they were asked where the bodies were taken from and to which locations, and other related details.

Following the inquiry, the two drivers reportedly clarified that they had transported the bodies as per police instructions for post-mortem examinations, and all relevant entries were recorded in police documents. They added that most of the bodies were shifted from near the Netravati bathing ghat and included cases of suicides, accidental drownings, and unclaimed bodies. They further stated that they were ready to appear again if required by the investigation team.
For many years, Jaleel and Hameed were the primary ambulance drivers in the Beltangady area, handling the transportation of both patients and deceased persons. In earlier years, they also operated in the Dharmasthala region, but with the arrival of more ambulances in recent times, their trips to that area have reduced.
Meanwhile, the SIT has also issued notices to about five to six YouTubers in connection with the skull case. Apart from the ambulance drivers, none of the YouTubers appeared for questioning on Saturday. It is reported that YouTuber Santosh was interrogated on October 3, though sources suggest he has not yet completed the questioning process. The SIT has not received confirmation about when the remaining YouTubers will appear for inquiry.
