Mumbai, Oct 11: Actor-director Rishab Shetty has clarified that reports of production troubles during the making of Kantara: Chapter 1 were unfounded and part of a "false narrative" spread during the shoot.
Speaking to reporters at a hotel in Bandra West, Mumbai, Shetty said the team didn’t face any real hurdles, despite intense filming schedules deep in forested areas with limited network connectivity.
“We didn't have a problem,” he stated, “it was a narrative set at that time because we weren’t meeting the media or public. We were inside the forest, there was no network.”

The shoot, which spanned around 200 days, was marked by challenging outdoor sequences, including remote forest locations. The production did witness tragic and unfortunate events — notably the death of junior artist M.F. Kapil, who drowned during a break near the Souparnika River, and a separate incident involving a bus accident that injured six crew members. These incidents, Shetty suggested, were isolated and did not disrupt the overall progress of the film significantly.
He also explained the team's deliberate decision to maintain a low media profile during the shoot. “We didn’t do constant marketing—no posters, no regular updates. We just released a trailer and teaser. After the shoot wrapped, we shared a making video,” he said, attributing speculation about delays to this silence on social media.
