Chennai, Oct 23: Malayalam cinema fans are in for a treat as director Jithin K Jose’s much-awaited film Kalamkaval, starring superstar Mammootty and actor Vinayakan, is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on November 27, 2025.
The announcement was made by Mammootty himself on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, where he wrote, “#Kalamkaval Releasing Worldwide On November 27, 2025.” The film has already received a U/A certificate from the Censor Board, with the actor earlier sharing, “#Kalamkaval Censored with U/A 16+ Certificate. In Cinemas Soon.”
Produced under Mammootty’s own banner, Mammootty Kampany, Kalamkaval marks the seventh production from the studio and carries the intriguing tagline, “The Venom Beneath.” The film has been generating massive buzz since its teaser dropped, offering a glimpse into its dark and intense world.

The teaser opens with a mysterious knock on a door, followed by a tense exchange between a Tamilian man and an unseen visitor. Viewers then see Vinayakan, portraying a stern police officer, alongside Mammootty, who appears calm yet enigmatic — his true identity and motives kept deliberately ambiguous.
Adding to the intrigue, rumours in the industry suggest that Mammootty plays a character with shades of grey, though the filmmakers have kept details tightly under wraps.
Shot by cinematographer Faisal Ali, with editing by Praveen Prabhakar, Kalamkaval features music composed by Mujeeb Majeed and stunt choreography by Action Santhosh. The story and screenplay are penned by Jithin K Jose and Jishnu Sreekumar.
Earlier, the first and second look posters, unveiled by Mammootty Kampany, further heightened anticipation, with captions such as “Some Faces Raise Questions… Not Answers,” hinting at the film’s psychological undertones.
Filming for Kalamkaval wrapped up in November last year, and since then, fans have eagerly awaited its release — a film that promises to showcase Mammootty in one of his most unconventional roles yet.
