Ashi Sharma’s UPSC journey: From architecture graduate to IAS topper

Daijiworld Media Network – New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 25: Delhi NCR-born Ashi Sharma turned her dream of becoming an IAS officer into reality, securing an impressive All India Rank 12 in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2024 — after two previous attempts. Her journey is a testament to perseverance, strategy, and disciplined preparation.

Ashi completed her schooling at APJ School, Noida, studying PCM with Economics, and earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal (2016–21). Although her background could have led her to a career in design and urban planning, she was drawn to public service and chose the challenging path of the UPSC.

Her UPSC journey was far from easy. Ashi’s first attempt in 2022 ended at the preliminary stage, narrowly missing the cut-off. The second attempt in 2023 took her closer but still fell short of final selection. In 2024, her persistence paid off: scoring 1,025 marks, she achieved a top rank and fulfilled her dream. “I never discussed UPSC ambitions growing up, but once I figured out my approach, my parents supported me fully,” Ashi shared.

Ashi’s success stemmed from consistent daily effort, self-evaluation, and strategic planning. She dedicated eight hours each day to a mix of general studies, her optional subject (Public Administration), and current affairs. Her approach included structured online courses and rigorous self-study for her optional subject, regular mock tests and feedback analysis to identify and improve weak areas and quality-focused preparation for the personality test, carefully crafting her Detailed Application Form (DAF) and staying updated on current events.

Time management was initially challenging, particularly with newspaper reading and balancing classes. However, through disciplined scheduling and consistent effort, Ashi gained control of her routine while ensuring time for personal rest and rejuvenation.

Ashi emphasizes the importance of resilience for future UPSC aspirants. She encourages candidates to acknowledge moments of demotivation, take meaningful breaks, and reconnect with family and friends to return re-energized. Her journey demonstrates that consistent effort, strategic planning, and patience can turn even repeated setbacks into ultimate success.

Ashi Sharma’s story stands as an inspiring blueprint for aspirants aiming to transform ambition into achievement.
