Bhagalpur, Oct 25: A shocking incident shook Bhagalpur amid the Bihar Assembly elections as BJP leader Vivekanand Prasad, popularly known as Bablu Yadav, was shot in TNB Law College Lane under the Barari police station area on Friday.

According to residents, Yadav was taking a walk outside his house when Surjikhil resident Suraj Tanti, along with his associates, allegedly fired two rounds at him. The BJP leader sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Mayaganj Hospital, where doctors are currently treating him.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the attack may have stemmed from an old dispute. Bhagalpur DSP Ajay Kumar Chaudhary said, “A few days ago, there was a quarrel between local fruit vendor Dewanand and Suraj Tanti. During that altercation, Bablu Yadav had informed the police, which led to Dewanand’s detention. This old rivalry is believed to have prompted the attack.”

The entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera. Police have seized the footage and launched an investigation, with raids underway to apprehend the attackers.
