New Delhi, Oct 27: Author, politician, and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor has showered praise on Aryan Khan’s Netflix directorial debut The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, calling it “absolute #OTT GOLD!” in a post on X.

Tharoor, who said he had been recovering from a cold and cough, credited his sister Smita Tharoor and his staff for persuading him to watch the series. “It’s one of the best things I have ever treated myself to,” he wrote, lauding the show’s bold take on the Hindi film industry.

The Congress MP described the show as “a genius, often hilarious, sometimes moving, and always unflinching look beyond the glamour,” adding that it cleverly sends up Bollywood clichés “with razor-like wit and insider jokes.”

Praising Aryan’s creative vision, Tharoor added, “Take a bow, Aryan Khan—you’ve delivered a masterpiece! The Ba**ds of Bollywood* is brilliant!” He also complimented Shah Rukh Khan, saying, “From one father to another, let me say: you must be so proud!”

While Tharoor’s post earned wide attention online, reactions were divided. Some users agreed with his review, while others felt the praise was exaggerated. “While it has its moments, much of it feels repetitive and stereotypical. Calling it a masterpiece is quite an overstatement,” one comment read.

According to Netflix’s Q3FY26 data, The Ba**ds of Bollywood* has logged over nine million views since its release on September 18, with 2.8 million views in its opening weekend, as per Sacnilk reports.
