Riyadh, Oct 28: In a landmark move for global healthcare, Saudi Arabia has launched the world’s first diabetes command and control centre — an innovative digital platform designed to monitor diabetic patients in real time and promote preventive, patient-centred care.
Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of the Health Holding Company, Fahad AlJalajel, inaugurated the centre on Monday during the opening day of the eighth annual Global Health Exhibition at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Malham. The announcement drew international attention for pioneering a new model in managing chronic diseases.

According to the Health Holding Company, the centre enables continuous, electronic monitoring of vital signs for diabetic patients across the Kingdom. By allowing healthcare professionals to track health indicators in real time, the system ensures timely medical intervention, reduces complications, and empowers patients to maintain greater control over their health.
The launch marks a major milestone in Saudi Arabia’s preventive healthcare strategy, aligning with the Saudi Model of Care that prioritizes prevention before treatment. By integrating advanced technology and real-time data into patient management, the initiative strengthens early diagnosis, enhances quality of life, and reinforces the Kingdom’s commitment to healthcare innovation.
Officials highlighted that the centre also advances Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation in healthcare by improving accessibility, enabling faster doctor-patient communication, and ensuring more efficient medical responses. With this initiative, the Kingdom continues to establish itself as a global leader in digital health innovation and proactive disease management.
