Mumbai, Oct 30: For a city that thrives after sundown, Wednesday night at the MMRDA Grounds felt like a collective throwback to the golden era of pop. Global superstar Enrique Iglesias returned to India after a 13-year hiatus — and Mumbai welcomed him with roaring nostalgia, packed energy, and pure euphoria.
The sold-out concert, produced by EVA Live, marked Iglesias’s first-ever performance in Mumbai in over a decade and the opening night of a two-day musical extravaganza expected to draw more than 55,000 fans. What unfolded was part concert, part celebration, and part time capsule, as generations united under the glow of the stage lights.

Dressed in his trademark all-black look and signature cap, Iglesias kicked off the night with Súbeme La Radio, immediately setting the 25,000-strong crowd dancing. What followed was a seamless 90-minute set spanning 19 chart-toppers — from passionate ballads like Hero and Heartbeat to dance-floor anthems like Bailamos, Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You), and Takin’ Back My Love. The pacing was flawless, as Iglesias switched effortlessly between romantic croons and high-voltage pop hits, keeping the crowd spellbound throughout.
The audience was a vibrant blend of Gen-Z fans discovering his music live for the first time and longtime followers reliving their youth. Mumbai’s star circuit turned up in style too, with Malaika Arora Khan, Vidya Balan, Rakul Preet Singh, and several others spotted among the fans. Some even flew in from cities like Bengaluru, Goa, Delhi NCR, and Chandigarh, underscoring the enduring charm of the Latin pop icon.
Opening acts Jonita Gandhi and the EDM duo Progressive Brothers kept spirits high before Iglesias took the stage, ensuring the atmosphere was charged from start to finish.
The concert’s production matched the star power on stage — a dual-stage setup ensured maximum visibility, while synchronised lighting, pyrotechnics, and a dramatic cascade of white “EI” balloons during I Like It brought the night to a breathtaking finale.
The evening was both grand and intimate — a spectacle that reminded Mumbai why Enrique Iglesias remains one of the most loved performers of his generation. For fans, it wasn’t just a concert; it was a reunion with memories set to music.
