Mumbai, Oct 30: Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Thamma, which opened to strong collections earlier this month, has witnessed a noticeable dip at the box office. The horror-comedy, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under Maddock Films, released in theatres on September 21.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 3.25 crore on Day 9 (October 29), marking its lowest single-day collection since release. With this, Thamma’s total domestic earnings have reached Rs 104.60 crore.

The Hindi occupancy on the film’s second Wednesday stood at 10.10%, with night shows recording the highest turnout at 13.96%, followed by evening shows at 10.75%. Afternoon screenings registered 9.40%, while morning shows remained the lowest at 6.28%.
Thamma is the fifth film in the popular Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) after Stree, Stree 2, Bhediya, and Munjya. The film narrates the story of Alok Goyal (played by Ayushmann Khurrana), a journalist whose life takes a strange turn after falling in love with Tadaka (Rashmika Mandanna), a vampire.
Film critic Saibal Chatterjee described Thamma as “a genre-breaching inter-species love story,” adding that it both revisits familiar characters and paves the way for the franchise’s future.
Speaking about the film’s reception, Ayushmann Khurrana said that Thamma holds a special place in his career because of its strong connect with younger audiences.
“The best part of Thamma is that it’s been loved by kids. It’s the first film of mine that’s been embraced by children. At a recent screening, nearly 40% of the audience was Gen Alpha,” he shared.
“Most of my previous films cater to mature audiences with layered storytelling. Thamma is different — it’s a fun, simple, and visually engaging film designed for families. My kids absolutely love it,” he added.
Alongside Ayushmann and Rashmika, Thamma features veteran actor Paresh Rawal as Ram Bajaj Goyal, Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Yakshasan, Faisal Malik as Inspector PK Yadav, and Geeta Agarwal Sharma as Sudha Goyal.
Despite the recent dip, the film continues to perform well overall and remains one of Ayushmann Khurrana’s biggest commercial successes to date.
