Alia Bhatt-Sharvari action thriller ‘Alpha’ gets new release date: April 17, 2026

Mumbai, Nov 3: The upcoming action film ‘Alpha’, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, has been rescheduled to release on April 17, 2026, instead of the earlier slated December 25, 2025 date, confirmed by Yash Raj Films (YRF).

The decision comes as the filmmakers require more time to complete the film’s VFX work to deliver a visually spectacular cinematic experience. YRF emphasized their commitment to ensuring that the film, the first female-led installment in the popular YRF spy-universe, meets high expectations for action and spectacle.

A YRF spokesperson said,

“‘Alpha’ is an extremely special film for us and we want to present it in its most cinematic form. The VFX will take longer than initially expected. We want to leave no stone unturned to make ‘Alpha’ a theatrical experience for everyone to cherish. Therefore, the release is now scheduled for April 17, 2026.”

Directed as a relentless action thriller, ‘Alpha’ pairs Alia Bhatt with Sharvari, with Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in pivotal roles. The film features intense action sequences where Alia and Sharvari confront Bobby Deol in high-stakes showdowns within the YRF spy-universe.

A top trade source added that the release shift is purely due to VFX work, not because of the crowded release window spanning from Avatar’s sequel to January 2026. The team aims to ensure the final product meets audience expectations rather than compromise on visual quality.

With the additional time, fans can look forward to a polished, high-octane cinematic experience when ‘Alpha’ hits theatres next April.
