Kota, Nov 5: A day after actor Salman Khan went viral for flaunting his toned physique online, he has found himself in fresh legal trouble — this time over an advertisement endorsement.
A complaint filed in the Kota consumer court accuses the Bollywood star and the makers of Rajshree Pan Masala of promoting “misleading advertisements.” The case was lodged by Inder Mohan Singh Honey, a BJP leader and advocate at the Rajasthan High Court, who has also sought a ban on the ads.
The court has issued notices to both the company and Salman Khan, directing them to file formal responses.

According to the complaint, the advertisements claim that Rajshree Pan Masala contains “saffron-infused cardamom” and “saffron-infused pan masala.” The petitioner, however, dismissed these claims as impossible and deceptive, pointing out that genuine saffron costs around Rs 4 lakh per kilogram, while the product is sold for Rs 5 per sachet.
Advocate Honey argued that such misleading promotions encourage youth consumption of pan masala, a product widely linked to oral cancer.
“Salman Khan is a role model for millions, yet he is promoting a product that harms public health. The claim about saffron content is clearly false and misguides consumers,” he told reporters.
He further criticised celebrity endorsements of harmful products, saying, “In other countries, film stars avoid promoting even soft drinks. But here, top actors endorse tobacco and pan masala. They must stop sending the wrong message to young people.”
The Kota consumer court has fixed November 27 as the date for the next hearing in the case.
