Chennai, Nov 6: In a historic moment for Indian cinema, megastar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Thalaivar 173 will be produced under Kamal Haasan’s prestigious banner, Raaj Kamal Films International. Acclaimed filmmaker Sundar C has been roped in to direct the highly anticipated project.

The makers announced that Thalaivar 173 marks not just a monumental cinematic collaboration but also celebrates five decades of friendship and brotherhood between two of Indian cinema’s greatest icons — Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan.

The film is slated for a grand Pongal 2027 release through Red Giant Movies.

Rajinikanth, who was recently seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s action thriller Coolie, portrayed Deva — a former dockworker-turned-rebel who uncovers a dangerous smuggling syndicate in the gritty Visakhapatnam docks. The film, packed with high-octane action and emotional drama, also starred Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan in pivotal roles.

Kamal Haasan, who last appeared in Thug Life, is set to bring his creative vision to the table as producer for Thalaivar 173, marking one of the most exciting partnerships in recent Tamil cinema history.

Fans across the country are already abuzz with anticipation as this collaboration promises to blend Rajinikanth’s unmatched screen presence with Kamal Haasan’s cinematic brilliance — a true festival for movie lovers come 2027.
