Washington, Nov 8: Dr. Anjani K. Sinha, a renowned orthopaedic surgeon and Delhi University alumnus, has officially begun his tenure as the United States Ambassador to Singapore, marking an extraordinary transition from the world of medicine to global diplomacy.
“I am deeply honoured to represent the U.S. in Singapore — a steadfast friend and key hub for American business and regional stability,” Ambassador Sinha said upon his arrival. “President Trump has tasked me with expanding cooperation with Singapore based on mutual respect and shared priorities. I look forward to working closely in areas like technology, energy, and security.”

Dr. Sinha’s appointment highlights Washington’s continued commitment to deepening its partnership with Singapore — a relationship spanning nearly six decades and built on collaboration in innovation, energy, defence, and law enforcement.
Before entering diplomacy, Sinha was celebrated in the medical community as a leading orthopaedic surgeon and successful entrepreneur. “As a physician, I’ve always focused on connecting with people and achieving results. I’ll bring that same approach to strengthening the U.S.–Singapore relationship,” he said.
Known for his precision and empathy, both in the operating room and in leadership, Ambassador Sinha is accompanied by his wife, Dr. Kiki Sinha — a retired anaesthesiologist and former NYU faculty member. The couple, married for 48 years, have two children and three grandchildren.
For Bihar, where Sinha’s journey began, his appointment serves as a proud testament to perseverance, excellence, and the global reach of Indian-origin professionals shaping international diplomacy.
